Larry Wheeler, a TX resident, decided that the best way to put food on the table was to infiltrate a local recycler and junk car buyer in Smith County and he may want to through his notes on preparing for this theft into the scrap heap. According to ABC 9 KTRE, Mr. Wheeler may need to rethink what he does for a living as follows: “Smith County Sheriff’s Office dispatchers received a call from a night security guard regarding a burglary in progress at a scrap yard located in the 10300 block of County Road 383. Deputies arrived on scene to find a suspect running out of the woods near the location. The suspect was taken into custody & deputies found several items from the scrap yard in the woods from which the suspect came. The suspect had trespassed into the scrap yard, thrown items over the fence into the woods, and planned to load them into his vehicle nearby.” Did you notice in the story that the “security guard” appears to have done nothing during this beautifully devised “junkyard heist”? Why didn’t the security guard grab two of the junkyard’s German Shepherds and attempt to stop this 57 year old crook himself? They were in Texas–which likely allows security staff to carry fully automatic, military grade weaponry for god’s sake! Seriously, has this country changed…?
